The AAATE mission is to foster the role of Αssistive Τechnology (ΑΤ) and inclusive design to create a world where all people can equally enjoy their human rights.

Their annual conference will take place this year in Paris, for August 28 to September 1st, 2023. This edition is entitled Assistive Technology: Shaping a sustainable and inclusive world. More information is available in the AAATE 2023 conference website.

The conference targets researchers, AT practitioners, end users, education providers, policy makers,  and industry. Topics will cover the wide range of issues related to technology and disability: technological developments in the field of Assistive Technology, accessibility and universal design, including ambient assisted living (AAL), smart environments and the Internet of Things (IoT) applications, assistive robotics, digital and connected health, virtual and augmented reality, as well as the ethical implications of these new possibilities, data privacy and self-determination of users with disabilities and older people; innovations in AT for cognitive, sensory and motor disabilities; the impact of societal changes that make AT ever more relevant and needed; issues related to AT and education, employment, service delivery, political participation; policy making in all those fields; and the need to provide wider access to AT at global scale.

We submitted a proposal for an oral contribution entitled Will this book fit my reading needs? and it was accepted. We’ll present the research project we lead on displaying accessibility metadata, its results and consequences.
