W3C opened today registration for its first ever W3C Publishing Summit to be held 9-10 November 2017 in San Francisco, California, co-located with the W3C’s Technical Plenary and Advisory Committee meetings (TPAC 2017), and calls for speakers by 15 July 2017.
The inaugural W3C Publishing Summit, which can be considered as a W3C / US counterpart of the European EPUB Summit, will show how publishers of all types are using today’s Web technologies, including EPUB, to make their publications more
effective and their workflows more efficient, and cover developments coming soon in Web publications, EPUB and the overall Open Web Platform (OWP).
EDRLab members (and other European-based companies in our domain) are welcome as speakers if they wish to share their vision or projects with other participants to the Summit. If so, please contact the program committee by July 15 with speaker/session proposals.
Additionally, the W3C has launched a new Publishing Working Group, a standards-track group formed just a few months following the combination of IDPF and W3C. The Publishing Working Group’s mission is to provide the necessary technologies on the Open Web Platform to make the combination of traditional publishing and the web complete in terms of accessibility, usability, portability, distribution, archiving, offline access, and reliable cross referencing.
