EDRLab at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2026: Hall 4.1, Booth F15

From 7 to 11 October, Frankfurt becomes the meeting point for the global publishing industry. This year, EDRLab is coordinating a 24m² collective stand, Hall 4.1, Booth F15, shared with five member and partner organisations.

The 2026 EDRLab Members Collective Stand brings together:

• Fondazione LIA (Italy)
• Letimio (France)
• Samawy (Saudi Arabia)

Each of these organisations approaches digital publishing from a different angle: independent bookselling infrastructure, academic content distribution, accessibility certification, plagiarism detection, Arabic-language reading platforms. All of them intersect with EDRLab’s core work on EPUB, Readium, and Thorium Reader. Sharing a stand gives visitors one place to see how these pieces fit together.

The EDRLab team on site

Five EDRLab Team Members will be at the stand throughout the fair and available for scheduled meetings:

Between them they cover the technical roadmap for Readium and Thorium Reader, accessibility compliance ahead of the European Accessibility Act, and the licensing questions around Readium LCP that come up whenever a distributor is evaluating alternatives to proprietary DRM.

EDRLab is managing three programme sessions on Friday 9 October, each looking at a different pressure point in digital publishing.

Anti-counterfeit

Friday 9 October, 10:30–11:00, Knowledge Hub. The panel addresses the growing problem of pirated republication and false attribution on online retail and reading platforms. Rightsholders currently carry most of the cost of monitoring and enforcement themselves; the discussion looks at why platform responses have been insufficient and what a more workable protection model could look like. Speakers to be confirmed.

Protecting while leveraging your content in the AI age

Friday 9 October, 11:00–11:30, Knowledge Hub. Text and data mining opt-outs, content licensing to AI systems, and discoverability in an increasingly automated search landscape are on the table. Giacomo D’Angelo, Founder and CEO of Amlet, is confirmed as a speaker.

What is digital reading infrastructure?

Friday 9 October, 15:30–16:00, Innovation Stage. The session looks past the interfaces readers see and into the distribution networks, library systems, and metadata pipelines that make digital reading work at all, with a focus on how technology providers, national libraries, and publishers in the Middle East and Eastern Europe are building more resilient distribution models.
